Lives and works in Bilbao.
He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country, specializing in painting and audiovisuals. He participated in the project Espacio Abisal. He resided at the Bilbaoarte Foundation (02,04,13), Delfina Foundation, London (2008), Colegio España in Paris (2007), CCA Andratx (Mallorca) (2011) and MAstudio Beijing, China (2012) and Tjinchina, Tijuana, Mexico (2014). Ismael Iglesias is a multidisciplinary artist, who has been able to build a plural work, with his own style.
His proposals, halfway between painting and installation, have been exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Bilbao, Barcelona, Basel, Beijing, L.A., London, Madrid and Tijuana. He has received awards and acquisitions for important collections such as Lóreal, Cajamadrid generaciones, Focus Abengoa, Repsol, Idealista.com ... etc. His works, of great visual effectiveness, come from the systematic search in the current technological media. Not so much in order to capture images to later transfer them to the canvas but to understand and accept their speed of articulation. This paradigmatic search of the essential, of the memory in different phases, makes that by means of the systematic parceling, he combines the achievements of the traditional pictorial avant-garde with the opaque luminescence of the computer screens.
