Javier Rodríguez Pino

(1981, Santiago de Chile)

The artistic practice of Javier Rodríguez Pino (Santiago de Chile, 1981) explores the images and stories that emerge from the scenarios of political violence in Chile. He uses the language of film, political graphics and historical essays in comic format to develop works situated between drawing, pop horror and social history. His works become critical tools with the aim of recovering the symbolic territory of popular power in Chile. symbolic territory of popular power in Chile, before Pinochet, usurped by the dominant imaginaries and narratives.

His projects have been presented at MUSAC, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León, León (2022); MAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de la Universidad de Chile, Santiago (2022); Laznia Center for Contemporary Art, Gdansk, Poland (2020); MeetFactory, Prague (2019); Galería Metales Pesados Visual; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago de Chile (2017 and 2016) or Matadero, Madrid (2015).
His works are part of institutional and individual collections in different countries, such as DKV Seguros, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santiago, Colección CCU, Ministerio de la Cultura, el Arte y el Patrimonio de Chile, among others.
